Your Primary 4 French programme builds directly on Primary 3 learning and helps children move from using familiar words and phrases towards more independent communication through everyday classroom routines, talking about family and pets, reading and writing simple texts, and sharing their learning with confidence.

🌟 The 20-Lesson Core P4 French Programme
At Lingobox, we believe in creating programmes that are genuinely manageable for busy teachers. Our planning fits realistically within curriculum demands and limited time without compromising on quality or progression.
Primary 4 follows a 20-lesson core programme organised into four short blocks using a spiral progression. Key language is revisited, reused and gradually extended as learners move from everyday classroom French into talking about family and pets before reading, writing, presenting and celebrating through an authentic French pen pal project.
Primary 4 lessons are designed to last around 30–45 minutes. Each lesson can be delivered as a single session or broken down into shorter activities spread across the week.

In Primary 4, language learning develops across three interconnected strands. Vocabulary, grammar and phonics are explored together through listening, speaking, games, songs, shared reading and supported writing.

Phonics in Primary 4 is not taught as a separate programme. Instead, learners develop sound–spelling awareness through short Phonics Explorer investigations, songs, repeated phrases, shared reading and opportunities to notice patterns in familiar words. This supports accurate pronunciation and growing independence without cognitive overload.
