Lingobox First Level French: What is it? Who is it for?
Level: First Level learners (typically ages 7ā9). In Scotland this is usually P3āP5. In England and Wales this broadly matches Lower KS2 (Years 3ā4). These Lingoboxes also suit older beginners (ages 9ā11) who are starting French for the first time across Upper Primary and KS2.
Who is it for? First Level French aligns with Curriculum for Excellence First Level (Scotland) and Lower KS2 French (England & Wales), and maps easily to equivalent elementary and primary curricula used internationally. It works well for classes beginning French at any point in KS2 and for schools who want a clear, progressive next step after Early Level / KS1 French. Teachers across Australia, New Zealand, the USA, Canada, India and South Africa already use these Lingoboxes successfully with middle-primary learners.
Description: First Level French builds on the Early Level foundations and develops talking, listening, reading and early writing through practical classroom language, songs, games and short model texts. Learners explore simple sentence structures, opinions and early phonics, gradually gaining confidence to speak, read and write short pieces of French about themselves, everyday life and familiar topics.
